Bill Shootout --- Season-long Side Match
One of Hickok's most notable gunfights was when he shot Davis Tutt Jr. through the heart at 75 yards with one of his 1851 Navy's. (No need to let us know if disagree with the specifics of the gunfight. We've researched it and there are MANY opinions out there. This is our stand and we're sticking to it.) During the 2009 shooting season, for a buck a shot and on the timer, cowpokes shot any SASS legal handgun duelist style, like they did in the movie Appaloosa, at a playing card 75 yards away. The shooter who - over the course of the season - hit the target with the fastest time won half the “pot” and a pocket watch, the item that caused the shootout. Three Toed Pete was the only shooter to hit the card and since the October Match was rained out, he received his award on April 17. |
